I hate computer viruses! Hmmm…. As of now I cannot “show the hidden files and folders” in my PC. A sality virus attacked my USB. I have encountered this case before, but looks like the creator of this virus also made some enhancements. Just in case you encounter the old version of this virus, here are some of the solutions that you can do to remove it. It may work on you too. Here are the methods:
Method 1:
- Go to registry editor by running regedit in the run box (or press Window+R).
- Type “regedit” and click “Ok”
- Go to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Microsoft->
Windows->CurrentVersion->Explorer->Advanced - In the right hand area, double click Hidden and change the value to 1.
- Test if you can select the “show hidden files and folders” option.
Method 2:
- Click “Start” -> “Run…” (or press Windows key + R)
- Type “regedit” and click “Ok”
- Go to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion->Explorer->
Advanced->Folder->Hidden->SHOWALL - Look at the “CheckedValue” key… This should be a DWORD key. If it isn’t, delete the key.
- Create a new key called “CheckedValue” as a DWORD (hexadecimal) with a value of 1.
Method 3:
- Click “Start” -> “Run…” (or press Windows key + R)
- Type “regsvr32 /i browseui.dll” and click “Ok”
- Wait for the confirmation dialog box.
- After this, click Windows key + R again and type “regsvr32 /i shell32.dll”
Method 4:
