August 2009

I was searching for a home-based job last month. While I was reading forums on one of the famous blog site here in the Philippines, I found an interesting post about Saluta Ventures. It got my attention because it promises a monthly salary of $2000/month by just working from home.

The open positions are the following:

Internet Marketer

Home based Internet Marketer / contractors will post promotion on message boards, social networks and classified ad web sites. No experience is required; one week – three weeks (depending on the individual) training is provided. Access to Computer and High Speed Internet connection is required, along with basic computer knowledge, such as knowing how to establish an email account and surfing the Internet.

Information Technology (IT)

ICT Help Desk Operators – Manage service calls, provide online tech support.

ICT Customer Service Operators – Manage and support clients, follow-up on service calls.

ICT Sales Representative – Sell company’s technical services

ICT Technical Service Representatives – Provide technical services and support on / off site to clients.

Graphic Designer - Create graphic rich, contemporary web site using Flash.

Programmer - Creating data base to implement in web sites.

I tried to apply last July 29, 2009. Then Saluta Ventures replied to me 3 days after and told me to wait for their assessments.

I have followed their instructions and submitted the requirements again.

Last August 25 2009, a mail was sent to me stating that I was approved for working in their company (SALUTA VENTURES ICT SERVICES NETWORK). The e-mail is confidential so I will not post it here.

But since I am very cautious with responding on e-mails I made some researches before I reply.

Before I reply, I see and search for it if it’s just a phishing scam or not. I look in the Google Search Engine if there is an issue with this company. While conducting my research, I found this forum (click the link to see it).

I found out that there are people who are telling that the company was just a fraudulent scam because it is asking for a certain fee for non-IT positions, while there are people like McFreddy201 who personally defend Saluta Ventures.

Upon reading the forum, the main issue was focused on why Saluta Venture is asking for an annual rental fee (of $85) for the Working Tool and Web Based Email Account? Saluta on the other hand only ask for rental fee on Non-IT positions. In their second e-mail above, they have mentioned that programmers / developers and Graphic Designers were not required to pay the rental fee because the applicants have a higher educational level than other applicants (no offense). They say that 99.9% applying for the position are seriously seeking stable / long term employment.

THE VERY REASON why they ask for a rental fee is that the majority of applicants are applying for positions such as Data Entry, Customer Service, Internet Marketer etc. generally tend to change employment frequently and a percentage tries to defraud the company by using various methods.

Saluta Ventures says that when a fee is involved, this always screen-out individuals that are not serious with the job.

Nevertheless, I continued in applying for Saluta Ventures since I was applying for a Programmer/Web Developer position (no fees for me is required).
Last night I submitted my requirements on Saluta Ventures’ e-mail.

The very next day, I have received a confirmation mail fromSaluta Ventures

telling me that the information was receieved on their ends and wait for around 2 weeks for the account to be established.

I will be waiting for the results and see whether this venture is a “ghost company” or not as other people say. If I will found out that this is a phishing scam, I will immediately post it here for anybody’s reference.

But while I am on the process
, I cannot immediately say and conclude that this is a real scam. It will be unfair for SALUTA VENTURES if I will tell in this blog that they are.

Hope this post helps to everyone. Thank you very much for reading my article.

Despite rising poverty, it’s still a good thing to know that there are still groups and organizations that help other people with their lives. Internationally speaking, one of the good organizations I am mentioning is the UNICEF or The United Nations Children’s Fund.

UNICEF was created by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1953, UNICEF became a permanent part of the United Nations System and its name was shortened from the original United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund but it has continued to be known by the popular acronym based on this old name. Headquartered in New York City, UNICEF provides long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries.

UNICEF relies on contributions from governments and private donors and UNICEF’s total income for 2006 was $2,781,000,000. Governments contribute two thirds of the organization’s resources; private groups and some 6 million individuals contribute the rest through the National Committees. UNICEF’s programs emphasize developing community-level services to promote the health and well-being of children. UNICEF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965 and the Prince of Asturias Award of Concord in 2006.

Currently, UNICEF helps on different parts of the Globe. They are helping the people in Somalia, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Rwanda and many others.

Thank you for reading my post! Hope you can help on UNICEF too.
