Few days from now (June 03, 2009) I’ll be one of the (more or less) 10.7 Million jobless Filipinos (This was computed using the original National Statistics Office (NSO) last 2008).

I resigned in my present company by refusing to sign my contract for being a regular employee. You might be asking me why I did not sign the contract, so I’ll tell it right away in this blog. Here’s my story (get your hanky, nakakaiyak e… *Sniff …. Sniff…)

Here’s my resignation letter :

Dear Sir,

Good day!

Last April 27, 2009, I was expecting that I will become a regular employee in our company due to the fact that my immediate superior gave me a grade of 2 (Adequately/Generally meet the requirements) in my level of competency in the performance appraisal. Honestly speaking, I was really expecting an increase upon my regularization.

But since he told me that there will be no increase or adjustment in my salary (As what Head Office said), I felt that I have not contributed anything in this company, in spite of several projects that I have finished. I understand that we are affected by global recession but I cannot accept that there will be no salary adjustments as my superior have promised on my very first day of work.

Aside from these, I have lost my motivation to work and there have been some realizations on my part lately. The goals I want to pursue no longer coincide with the company goals. Thus, I have refused to sign the contract and decided to leave last May 14, 2009. But since there is still no one to take my place, as a sign of courtesy on our company, I gave the company 15 working days more just to get someone for replacement. Hence, I am filing my last day of work on June 05, 2009. I would be glad to extend my assistance to facilitate the transition of work to the next employee if needed.

I am not applying or accepting any job offers from other companies as of the moment. I plan to do some freelance work while sorting out what I would really like to pursue in the future.

Thank you for giving me a chance to work with you and your team. I have learned a lot, and I am sure that I can use it on my next job.

Best Regards,
Gayward S. Mendoza, E.c.E.

Well… That’s it!…Good luck na lang sa akin… hehehe

I know that there are lots of “pros” and “cons” of being a self-employed. I may just be pretending to be blind about the disadvantages, but I am always looking forward that somehow I can get through with it. I do not feel any regrets and I am happy with the major decision that I have made.

I still don’t know what will happen next, but I always believe that everything happens to me is for my own good (Rome 8:28). And I always believe on it because I know that God is good all the time.
